About Us

A Plant from Grace Church Boroughbridge

Hope Church Easingwold was planted in 2021 from Grace Church, Boroughbridge. Ever since Grace Church was planted thirteen years ago, they have been praying for Easingwold. In the last three years the Lord began to gather a team, meeting weekly in Easingwold for bible study and prayer, as they looked to establish a new church in Easingwold. On 17th October 2021, Hope Church celebrated its first Sunday afternoon gathering. We now function independently, with our own body of elders, although for the time being we are all under one Charitable body.

Grace Church is led by a team of six elders, two of whom are part of the team at Hope Church: Edward Fenning & Mark Troughton.

Edward Fenning

Edward & Helen moved up to North Yorkshire in June 2021 to join the team in Easingwold. Helen’s parents and sister were already part of the team. Edward is employed as the pastor of Hope Church.

The Fenning family love walks in the countryside and the picture shows us at a favourite spot – Scotch Corner, near Kilburn.

Prior to coming to Yorkshire, Edward and Helen both taught in a senior school and Edward spent three years training at Oak Hill bible college.

Mark Troughton

Mark was in teaching (Modern Foreign Languages) then church ministry for 30 years in the UK and Switzerland before taking early retirement to devote his energies to church planting, something always dear to his heart.

Jane is a music therapist and very active across Yorkshire. They have 6 adult children and 3 grandsons…so far. Oh, and 2 spaniels, Winnie and Buddy.
