Matthew

Matthew’s gospel presents us with Jesus – the man born in Bethlehem. But from the first pages it is clear that he is so much more: he is the one to bring blessing to all the world (the Son of Abraham); he is God’s promised King who will shepherd his people (the Messiah, the Son of David); he is the Saviour who will deliver us from our sins (Jesus); and he is God with us (Immanuel). As we walk through Matthew’s gospel together, we will see Jesus succeed where we fail, but rather than just commanding us to do better, we will find he succeeds for us. He is gentle and humble in heart, and in him we find rest for our souls.
